Artby6 Exhibition
An eclectic collection of contemporary art work from West Yorkshire Artists. Compiled with both business and leisure in mind, the collection will enhance any location from office to home. The intention is to provide talented work from a combination of professional and emerging Artists, against the backdrop of the wonderful Brooke's Mill and North Light Gallery – a magnificent show space of tranquillity, a short drive from the M62/M1 motorways and Leeds/Huddersfield train services.
All paintings within the Artby6 collection are for sale, and most Artists will discuss personal commissions as required. Price details for individual pieces will be available shortly, but for further details contact Helen Dakin on 07950 379375.
Works include original pieces by:
Ali White
Digital lens photographer, printing onto canvas. The subjects vary greatly from plants and foliage to Mosques in Dubai, as well as music and architecture. His techniques are time consuming, requiring extreme levels of detail, but producing astonishing results. Ali shows widely across Yorkshire, and is very active in promoting his work country-wide. His former years were spent in the Middle East which is now an inspiration for much of his work, hence his display of symmetry, vivid colours and vibrant patterns.
Caro Ward
Caro works with equine subjects, often free-flowing and highly emotive work. She graduated from Huddersfield University as recently as 2006 and is now establishing her career from her home on the rural outskirts of Huddersfield. She is a proficient horse-woman and relates in every way to her subject, producing work including both gentle strokes and bold, proud lines. Her work is held in private collections and she has completed many shows and exhibitions both locally and in London, and was recently featured in “Artist and Illustrator” as quality equine painter.
Jill Moynan
Jill originally trained in Graphic Design. Now retired, she has returned to her first love of painting and drawing. Her specialities include self portrait, life studies and more recently, abstract works. She is a highly “experimental” artist, often including paper and mixed media within the body of her work to great effect. This is her first gallery showing.
Brian Halton
Originally an Art Teacher, Brian now works prolifically from his home on the outskirts of Huddersfield. His preferred media is pastels, often on plaster board, the surface blending perfectly with his chosen media. His mainstream work is equine studies, mostly in Ireland within their racing community, but here we see beautiful landscapes inspired by views local to his home and the Spanish countryside.
Sue Heron
Originally a textile and fashion designer, Sue came to Huddersfield over 20 years ago. Her work is frequently influenced by her time at the Norfolk coast, as well as travels in Europe and North Africa. She produces highly textured work, evoking a tactile response to her paintings. This is her first gallery showing – previously she has worked to private commissions from her charming home and studio in Brighouse.
Maggie Melechi
A full time Artist from Baildon, Bradford. Maggie graduated in Fine Art from Leeds Met University in the late 80s and now works prolifically from her home/studio to produce work for many shows, exhibitions and galleries. She is inspired by nature – light, flowers, mountains and sea, to produce highly textured works with bright colours and lots of energy. Italy is also an influence on her work – not surprising as she married and Italian – and her fascination with Mediterranean colours gives pleasure and appeal to her work.
Damian Clark
An emerging talent from Batley, with family origins in London and latterly Ireland. Damian’s early life was immersed in music, as his late Father taught music at Batley College. He followed in his footsteps and took a musical career path before developing his artistic talent initially part time, and now on a full time basis. He is virtually self taught, travelling throughout Spain and Italy to gain inspiration and experience with his preferred media – oils. He has produced many fine pieces and recently completed several exhibitions – a talent waiting to be discovered.
The exhibition will re-open on February 1st 2008.
The space is open to the public on Friday and Saturdays from 10am - 4.00pm.
Viewings are available at other times by appointment only. Please call 01484 340003 for more details.
